What is data? (දත්ත යනු මොනවාද?)
Anything that is entered into a computer with the expectation of information or a certain result is called data.
(තොරතුරු හෝ නිශ්චිත ප්රතිඵලයක් අපේක්ෂාවෙන් පරිගණකයකට ඇතුළත් කරන ඕනෑම දෙයක් දත්ත ලෙස හැඳින්වේ.)
Examples : Text, Numbers, Symbols, Sounds, Images, Videos etc…
What is information? (තොරතුරු යනු කුමක්ද?)
The output obtained after a set of data has been processed to give it meaning is known as information.
(යම් දත්ත සමුහයක් අර්ථයක් ගෙන දෙන පරිදි යම් සැකසීමට ලක්වු පසු ලැබෙන ප්රතිදානය තොරතුරු ලෙස හැදින්වේ.)

Functions of a Computer (පරිගණකයක කාර්යයන්)
The basic functions of a computer are entering data, processing them and producing processed data (information).
(පරිගණකයක මූලික කාර්යයන් වන්නේ දත්ත ඇතුළත් කිරීම, ඒවා සැකසීම සහ සැකසූ දත්ත (තොරතුරු) නිෂ්පාදනය කිරීමයි.)
